Trust & accuracy

Editorial standards

In short: we publish independent, clearly-dated, source-backed information for foreign buyers considering a Spanish mortgage. We separate editorial content from commercial relationships and we never present indicative information as financial advice.

Indicative only. Figures shown are estimates for informational purposes and do not constitute financial advice. Final mortgage assessment is conducted by regulated mortgage professionals and lenders. Mortgage conditions vary depending on lender assessment.

Our editorial authority

Our content is led by Susan Hobbelin, founder of Costa del Sol Lifestyle and co-owner of Awesome Content AS. She is our primary author and editorial authority, working as an independent editor, researcher and relocation-focused content creator — not as a mortgage broker, financial adviser, lender, lawyer or tax adviser. Guides are published under the “Susan Hobbelin” or “Spain Mortgage Calculator Editorial Team” byline, all reviewed under her direction.

Our principles

Accuracy first

We prioritise correct, current information over volume. When figures change, we update the page rather than leave stale numbers in place.

Cited sources

Regulatory, tax and market claims are grounded in publicly available, authoritative sources, which we list on our sources page.

Clear non-advice framing

Because mortgages are a Your-Money-Your-Life topic, every page makes clear that content is indicative and not financial, legal or tax advice.

Independence

Editorial content and compatibility scoring are kept separate from commercial relationships. Paid visibility is always labelled and never alters organic scoring.

Dated & reviewed

Key pages carry a last-reviewed date so readers can judge currency, and are re-checked when Spanish rules or market conditions change.

Corrections welcome

If you spot an error, contact us and we will review and correct it promptly, noting material changes.

How we review content

  1. Research. We gather information from authoritative public sources on Spanish mortgages, tax and regulation.
  2. Draft & check. Claims are checked against those sources and framed as indicative, non-advisory information.
  3. Date. Key pages are stamped with a last-reviewed date.
  4. Re-review. Pages are revisited when Spanish regulation, tax rates or market conditions change materially.

Independence & conflicts of interest

We may earn compensation if you choose to contact a partner broker, but this never affects compatibility scoring or editorial content. Read more on our partner transparency and ranking methodology pages.
